Derek Laney is a certificated Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Technician with more than 35 years of experience in the aviation industry. His expertise spans aircraft manufacturing, modification, line maintenance, and heavy maintenance across a diverse range of aircraft, including Beechcraft, Boeing, Bombardier Challenger and CRJ, de Havilland, Embraer, Learjet, Hawker, and Saab platforms.
In addition to his extensive technical background, Derek is well-versed in FAA and other National Aviation Authority (NAA) regulations, as well as quality management standards including ISO 9001, AS9100, and AS9110. He is also a member of the C&L Export Compliance Team.
At C&L Aviation Services, Derek oversees the Quality Inspection Department and serves as the company’s FAA Part 145 Accountable Manager, ensuring compliance, safety, and operational excellence throughout the organization.
