C&L Aviation Group Launches Full-Tuition College Scholarship for Aviation Maintenance

Yearly award will send a Bangor-area student to school in Concord, MA to become an aircraft mechanic

BANGOR, Maine – C&L Aviation Group has launched a new scholarship for a Bangor-area high school senior to pursue an Aircraft and Powerplant (A&P) License at the National Aviation Academy (NAA) in Concord, MA. With an A&P license in hand, the student will be FAA-approved to perform maintenance on aircraft and start their career in the field of aviation. The student will also be offered a position with C&L upon completion of their certification at the company’s 200,000 Sq. Ft. MRO facility in Bangor, Maine.

“We’re excited to offer this scholarship to a local student,” said Chris Kilgour, CEO of C&L Aviation Group. “Aviation is woven into the fabric of the Bangor community and this scholarship is one of many programs we are working on to help build awareness of aviation as a viable career path here in Bangor.”

Since 2010, C&L has grown from a company of less than two dozen to over 200 employees. The scholarship program is one of many ways that C&L has worked to build its employee base by training and educating the local community. In 2021, C&L launched a state-recognized apprenticeship program that provides on-the-job training for those accepted into the program.

The scholarship will be awarded annually in the spring to a Bangor-area senior and covers the full tuition for the 14-month program at NAA, a school that C&L has worked with for several years. Students looking for more information about the program can visit the C&L Scholarship Website or speak with their high school guidance departments.
